Hey, stranger!
“Hey Gabi, why that sheep?”
The 'who are you?' question can be profoundly philosophical and we often reply with our names or jobs. Long story short, my sole last name, 'Carneiro,' translates to 'sheep' in Portuguese and It led to tough times in my teenage years — a blend of bullying and shame. At times, I'd avoid saying it or even adopt a false name (sorry, Dad!). Time brought maturity, and I embrace it with honor.
I'm still a work in progress, and 'about me' means being an authentic sheep. I'm my frizzy hair, my black clothes with dog hair, my books, and my curiosity.
Looking after cats have teach me to respect my time and personal space and nursing taught me the essence of forming genuine human connections. These experiences have shaped myself. Today, my life's purpose is clear: to create real connections with all beings that cross my life.
“So, why UI/UX Design?”
That's easier, because I’m really good at it. Someone might say: 'Gabi, take a break,' I'm always immersed in a state of flow working.

An omnichannel SaaS software startup, I was promoted from intern to Junior Product Designer, where I combined design with product management tasks. I worked closely with developers, Senior Designer and stakeholders to lead key features and revamps, ensuring a cohesive design language and user-centric experience across the platform.

User Experience Research and UI Design Project with an early-stage environmental startup in Netherlands. The Software aims reduce environmental impact and government costs by empowering Environmental/Asset Managers to take appropriate action against Invasive Species.
Climate Tech Startup • Design client’s landing page and first Career Page, creating a new brand, redesing and collaborating closely with the CPO as well as the HR team. -

I flourish when engaged in meaningful work that aligns with my values, within proactive teams that prioritize ethical product development, inclusivity, always being able to learn with.
My design practice so far includes Design Thinking, user research, branding, product design and data visualization. On top of that, I really enjoy drawing silly illustrations and handlettering and I'm currently exploring this world to enhance the user experience.
